These are the questions that
patients ask most often – when a
tooth aches, when the toothbrush
causes unpleasant sensations in the
gums in the morning, when the
toothpaste foam gets pink, or the
color of the teeth changes without a
visible reason.

What is a veneer?
| Veneers are “scales” made from photopolymer or ceramics fabricated in a dental laboratory. They are cemented to the teeth. |
What is the difference between a veneer and a crown?
| When the dentist is going to restore a tooth with a veneer, he or she cuts only 0.5 mm from the outer and the side surfaces of the tooth, whereas in case the tooth is going to be restored by means of a crown, 1.5 – 2.0 mm from all surfaces of the tooth should be cut. Veneers are metal-free and that is why more esthetic than porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns. |

What is bonding?
| Bonding is direct restoration (with photopolymer) of fractured, crooked, set at a distance teeth, or teeth with other kinds of irregularities. This method is an esthetic and cheaper one (in comparison with veneers). |
What is an inlay?
| Inlays are fillings fabricated in a dental laboratory in accordance with an impression taken of the tooth. It is a stronger, more resistant and more esthetic filling than a filling from photopolymer fabricated directly in the patient’s mouth. |
What is an onlay and overlay?
| Onlays and overlays are crowns with partial coverage (they are also called ¾ crowns). They do not require reduction of hard structure from all aspects of the tooth. The aim is maximum preservation of healthy tooth structure and stability of the crown. |
